Woodinville
We've returned once again to this sweet place, minutes from Seattle, WA. Lush green hills and gardens in bloom all around us, and we're experiencing it on a spectacular weekend, with perfectly mild weather, clear skies. Last night was dinner with Matthew and Kim Loso, of Matthews Cellars, one of the super fine wine producers in Washington. It was over the top. Matt's beautiful 2006 Sauvignon Blanc, fermented in cement tanks, was a perfect starter... Two 2005 Burgundies, a Clos Vougeot and a Chambolle Musigny (from producers I'm not familiar with), a couple of Matthew's reds from '03, including a delicious Cab Franc, and his 2001 Elerding Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon. Late into the evening, in Matt's cellar, we kept on pulling corks... It was a magnificent evening, followed by a blurry, dehydrated night of sleep. Today I rose late, and my body is still asking for rest. But work calls, and in 15 minutes there's a soundcheck for tonight's show (first of two) at Chateau Ste. Michelle. So... on my way! More soon.
