i stumbled upon this lovely prewar Gibson acoustic guitar today at a music shop in chicago.
several hours later, i made it mine.

great dining in the last couple of weeks:

It's amazing when you look at one of these the standards of quality for even somewhat lower-end gibson guitars during the Great Depression. I've taken these apart and looked into heck joints and such and and couldn't help but think bout the fact that that thsse were made unbelieveably well by skilled craftsmen using hand tools on big maple workbenches in this huge shop with great pane windows in the harsh tundra of Kalamazoo, MI by a skilled workforce such that America will never see again. They sound so beautiful, and they play so wonderfully, that it's amazing that these things are available and affordable at all, costing even less than some new Asian import archtop guitars. I am sure that you will enjoy this guitar. It looks like a perfect instrument to set beside the sofa to grab in moments of inspiration, or for acoustic guitar recordings.
